Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, and President and CEO of the Museum of the Bible, Carlos Campo, have signed a letter of intent on cooperation in the fields of Armenian Christian heritage and museum development. The signing ceremony was also attended by Armenia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan.
The document establishes institutional cooperation between Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the Washington-based Museum of the Bible. The partnership aims to promote Armenian Christian heritage, including plans to establish a permanent exhibition dedicated to Armenian Christian heritage at the museum.
The agreement also envisions the launch of research initiatives, educational programs, experience-sharing projects, and other joint activities.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister Andreasyan emphasized the importance of promoting Christian heritage and preserving its relevance for future generations.
“When we speak about Christian heritage, it is very important to show that it is not only part of our historical life, but also part of our present and future,” she said. “The Museum of the Bible plays a significant role, as bringing together Christian heritage in one place serves an important mission for visitors. We are pleased that Armenia has the opportunity to contribute to this important mission.”
Andreasyan highlighted Armenia’s interest in expanding cooperation in museum management, digitization, preservation, and educational programs, particularly for young professionals and researchers. She also stressed the Armenian government’s readiness to deepen cooperation by involving museums from Armenia.
Carlos Campo welcomed the partnership, noting that the signing of the letter of intent would create broad opportunities for collaboration across various sectors and strengthen ties between museum experts and researchers.
Located in Washington, D.C., the Museum of the Bible opened in 2017 and has seen steady growth in visitor numbers. According to available data, the museum welcomed approximately 800,000 visitors in 2024, double the number recorded in 2021.
