According to the data obtained during the investigation, in order to conceal the real ownership and criminal origin of these properties, they were registered in the names of affiliated companies, and later the acquired properties were disposed of by developing and selling them, alienating them to third parties, as well as transferring shares of the owner companies, including by donation.

Accordingly, a 8.3 ha plot of land in Yerevan was acquired for 44,657,000 drams, where the Play City entertainment center was built in 2002, and two years later, on November 15, 2004, the 50 percent share of the property owner, Fast Kart, was transferred by donation and registered in the name of ex-President Robert Kocharyan’s son, Sedrak.

Also, a 2 ha plot of land located in the Cascade complex in downtown Yerevan was acquired for 39,630,000 drams. It was later exchanged for another plot of land of the same area, owned by the state, located in a more favorable part of Yerevan, which was then alienated for 1,741,931,000 drams.

Also, a downtown Yerevan building on the balance sheet of Yeraspasarkum CJSC was acquired for 40 million drams, where the later built apartment building with a market value of 331,800,000 drams, public areas with a total area of 600 square meters and two parking lots were registered in the name of the former president’s son through formality sales transactions.

The Kaputak Sevan resort complex located in Gegharkunik Province was acquired for 83,669,000 drams, and the 50 percent share of the complex’s owner, Art Build company, was registered in the name of the former president’s son through a formality sales transaction on January 15, 2010.

The 29,000 square meters of land and the 1,700 square meters of building on it belonging to the Tennis Olympic Reserve Children's and Youth Sports School SNCO were acquired for 12,267,000 drams. The Orange Fitness premium club was built on the territory in 2008, and the 50 percent share of the property owner company was registered in a formality transaction in 2009 in the name of the company founded by the former president's son.

The investigation revealed also that in exchange for organizing the process of removing the Officer's House building and an unfinished building in Yerevan, which are historical and cultural monuments, from state ownership in violation of a number of legal norms and alienating them to the Piazza Grande company, 56 real estate properties worth a total of 2,633,934,000 drams were transferred to former President Robert Kocharyan as a bribe. In order to conceal their true ownership and origin, these properties were registered under formality purchase and sale agreements in the names of members of the former president's family and organizations affiliated with them.

In another case, the total market value of the land plots belonging to the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, including those intended for the construction of a scientific and production plant, amounted to 1,393,870,000 drams, but they were sold to a company owned by a person close to the former president at a price four times lower. According to the investigation, in exchange for selling the land plots at a disproportionately low price and ensuring the unhindered establishment of a representative office of the Japanese Toyota company in Armenia, Robert Kocharyan who held the position of President of Armenia, was transferred a 30 percent share of the Toyota Yerevan company as a bribe on May 9, 2006, and in order to conceal its criminal origin, it was registered in the name of the former president's son under formality purchase and sale agreements.

Six people, including second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, his son Sedrak and several other persons involved in these criminal schemes, have been detained as part of the aforesaid criminal proceedings.

The investigation is also examining the circumstances of the transfers of about 144 billion drams, 309 million US dollars, 77 million euros, and 18 million Russian rubles made in the name of the former president's son during 2001-2019, as well as the acquisition of more than three dozen real estate properties in Armenia and abroad belonging to persons related to the proceedings and their family members. In order to prevent the possible transfer or alienation of these properties, appropriate actions have been taken to impose a freeze on them, the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia added.

Earlier, reported that today at around 7am, law enforcement officers raided the house of opposition MP Levon Kocharyan, while his father, second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, was taken by investigative bodies to the Anti-Corruption Committee. Later, it became known that Robert Kocharyan and his eldest son, Sedrak Kocharyan, were detained. The Kocharyan family has shares in these companies.

In addition, also early this morning, tax authorities of Armenia sealed the Yerevan office of Toyota, and Anti-Corruption Committee employees are currently at Orange Fitness. The Kocharyan family has shares in these companies.

Investigative and procedural actions are being carried out at Orange Fitness club, Play City entertainment center, and in the directors' homes within the framework of criminal proceedings.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday had instructed the law enforcement to deprive second President Robert Kocharyan and third President Serzh Sargsyan of their property.
