Armenia, Lithuania sign strategic partnership agreement in Yerevan
Armenia and Lithuania have signed a strategic partnership document aimed at strengthening political dialogue and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. The agreement was signed in Yerevan by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys. Speaking at a joint press conference following the meeting and signing ceremony, Mirzoyan said the new format would provide an opportunity to elevate political dialogue between the two countries and foster a more comprehensive approach to sectoral cooperation.
“Bilateral visits, meetings, and in-depth discussions in our capitals provide a special opportunity to advance our political dialogue and cooperation,” Mirzoyan said.
The Armenian foreign minister noted that the visit carries symbolic significance, as it comes during the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Lithuania. “This visit is taking place at a highly symbolic time, marking the 35th anniversary of our diplomatic relations. Building on previous developments, we were able to sign a document that elevates the level of our relations,” he said.
Mirzoyan added that discussions with his Lithuanian counterpart also covered regional developments in the South Caucasus and broader geopolitical issues.
The two sides also explored prospects for expanding economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
“We had the opportunity today to discuss the prospects for our economic cooperation, especially in information technologies, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, where Lithuania has considerable experience and where we also possess certain expertise and knowledge,” Mirzoyan said.
He further stressed that cooperation between Armenia and Lithuania is also reflected in Armenia’s relations with the European Union and on international platforms. “We are grateful to our Lithuanian partners for their support in deepening Armenia-EU relations,” Mirzoyan added.
