Yerevan to host European Karate Championships for youth categories in 2027
Yerevan will host the European Karate Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships from February 5 to 11, 2027, under a government decision aimed at ensuring the proper organization and staging of the event.
To support preparations, Armenia’s government approved the allocation of financial assistance to the Armenian Karate Federation.
According to the decision, the opportunity to host the championship was proposed by the International Karate Federation, taking into account the Armenian Karate Federation’s development trajectory and progress in the sport.
The tournament is expected to bring together around 2,000 athletes, along with coaches, accompanying staff and other delegates. Organizers also anticipate the participation of 54 referees and approximately 30 event support staff members. Overall, attendance is expected to reach around 3,000 participants.
Authorities say hosting the championship will play an important role in the development and popularization of karate in Armenia while further strengthening the country’s visibility on the international sporting stage.
The event is also expected to contribute to tourism and cultural development, with broader economic benefits through increased activity in the hospitality sector, cultural venues and sports infrastructure.
