Armenia, Latvia discuss AI, cybersecurity and high-tech cooperation
Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, met with a delegation led by Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže on May 6 to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in technology, cybersecurity, and innovation. During the meeting, Hayrapetyan presented Armenia’s priorities for the development of the country’s high-tech sector. The discussions focused on access to high-performance computing resources in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as issues related to the construction of “AI factories.”
The sides also discussed Armenia’s recently adopted Law on Cybersecurity and its implementation process, along with opportunities for cooperation in capacity building and the protection of critical infrastructure.
Other topics included the exchange of experience in digital infrastructure development, support for startup ecosystems, defense industry cooperation, and the implementation of joint initiatives within the framework of Armenia-European Union cooperation.
The parties additionally explored the possibility of organizing reciprocal visits and Armenia’s participation in upcoming industry events and professional platforms in Latvia, aimed at fostering joint projects with the involvement of European companies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides emphasized the significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation and reached agreements on future steps.
