Armenia’s National Philharmonic Orchestra launches European tour on 35th anniversary of independence
As part of events marking the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra will embark on a major European concert tour from April 27 to May 16, performing 14 concerts across five of Europe’s leading cultural centers.
Supported by Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the tour will include prestigious concert halls in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Spain.
The orchestra will perform alongside some of the most distinguished musicians of our time, including renowned violinist Augustin Dumay, Armenian violinist Sergey Khachatryan, pianist Eva Gevorgyan, Italian cellist Ettore Pagano, as well as conductors Eduard Topchjan, Pier Carlo Orizio, and Benjamin Zwick.
The concert program features masterpieces of classical music, including Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10, Gustav Mahler’s “Titan” Symphony, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto.
Audiences will also hear excerpts from Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian’s celebrated ballets Spartacus and Gayane.
The concert tour is seen as a significant professional milestone for the orchestra and an opportunity to once again demonstrate the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra’s high performance standards and competitiveness alongside Europe’s leading orchestras.
