Armenia’s Minister of Environment, Hambardzum Matevosyan, will participate in the G7 Environment Ministers’ Meeting to be held in Paris from April 22 to 24. The visit comes at the invitation of France’s Minister for Ecological Transition and International Negotiations on Biodiversity, Climate, and Nature, Monique Barbut.
The meeting aims to strengthen political dialogue among participating countries and align approaches to tackling climate change and environmental protection. Discussions will focus on key priorities including climate action, energy transition, biodiversity conservation, and reducing environmental impacts.
Within the framework of the visit, participants will also address issues related to desertification, land degradation, water and marine resource management, as well as efforts to combat illegal fishing.
The outcomes of the meeting are expected to contribute to shaping joint positions ahead of the upcoming G7 Summit, while also advancing global biodiversity targets in the context of COP17.
