Armenia welcomes US–Iran ceasefire, praises mediation efforts
Armenia has welcomed the recent decision by the United States and Iran to cease hostilities, describing it as a crucial step toward de-escalation in the Middle East.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed support for the agreement in a statement published on X, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy in resolving ongoing tensions.
“Armenia welcomes the crucial decision between the US and Iran to cease all hostilities. We also commend the mediation efforts, including those of Pakistan, and firmly believe that diplomacy should prevail to resolve all outstanding issues and preserve peace in the Middle East,” Pashinyan said.
The statement comes after Washington and Tehran agreed to a two-week ceasefire, brokered with the involvement of Pakistan.
The ceasefire has been widely welcomed by the international community, with global leaders and organizations stressing the need to maintain momentum toward a lasting peace and to prevent further escalation in the region.
