Over 500 Russian citizens, including Bushehr NPP employees, evacuated from Iran via Armenia
A total of 175 Russian citizens evacuated from Iran arrived in Armenia on April 6 and were flown to Moscow on a special flight from Yerevan, according to a statement by the Russian Embassy in Armenia.
The evacuees, employees of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, crossed into Armenia through the Nurduz–Agarak border checkpoint as part of another group being relocated amid ongoing tensions.
The embassy stated that, thanks to the coordinated efforts of Russian diplomats and Armenian authorities, a total of 509 Russian citizens have returned home via Armenia since the start of the U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran.
The Russian diplomatic mission also expressed gratitude to the Armenian authorities for their assistance, highlighting the “kind attitude” and efficient handling of entry procedures for employees of Russia’s state nuclear corporation, Rosatom.
