Russia is not negotiating with Kazakhstan on Armenian railways
Russian Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin has announced that Russia is not negotiating with Kazakhstan on handing over the concession to manage Armenia's railways. "I can say that, first of all, we do not plan to make concessions to anyone. Secondly, at the official level, our partners in Armenia have not discussed these issues with us," Andrei Nikitin said in an interview with RIA Novosti. He stressed that there are no contacts with Kazakhstan on this issue either.
Recall that in December 2025, Nikol Pashinyan asked his Russian partners to restore the sections of the railway that lead to the borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan in a short time (these sections are necessary for the implementation of the "Trump Route" transport project between Armenia and the United States).
In early March, the Prime Minister announced discussions with Russia on handing over the railway's management to another country, for example, Kazakhstan, the UAE, or Qatar.
