MTPL rules will change starting April 1
Key amendments to the MTPL system will come into force on April 1. The Motor Insurers’
Bureau of Armenia reports that the core of the reform is a significant increase in insurance
coverage limits (maximum compensation amounts), aimed at providing more
comprehensive and adequate financial protection for people affected by road traffic
accidents.
According to the new regulations, updated compensation thresholds have been set:
Property damage: The limit per person has been increased from the current AMD 1,800,000 to AMD
2,500,000.
Personal injury (health and life): The limit per person has been increased from the current AMD 3,300,000 to AMD
3,500,000.
To maintain system stability, the total compensation limits payable to all victims per
accident have also been increased, reaching AMD 25,000,000 and AMD 35,000,000,
respectively.
“These changes are part of the ongoing improvement of the MTPL system. They will allow
for more complete compensation of costs arising from road accidents, reduce the
additional financial burden on citizens, and increase trust in the insurance system,” the
statement said.
The full version of the regulations is available via the official source.
