Ministry of Defense denies report of an attempted infiltration toward the Meghri military unit
Aram Torosyan, the spokesperson of Armenia’s Minister of Defense, has denied a statement by reserve Colonel Naira Gevorgyan, who claimed that on December 7-8 an attempted infiltration was recorded near the Meghri military unit and was repelled by the Armenian Armed Forces. Gevorgyan also claimed that a “do not fire” order had allegedly been issued by the superior command.
The text of the denial of the RA Ministry of Defense spokesperson, it states in particular:
“The statement by an individual who ‘distinguished’ himself in the Armed Forces with, to put it mildly, an inglorious service is not only disinformation, but also yet another unsuccessful and failed attempt at an information attack directed against the Republic of Armenia, its state institutions and the army.
We call on our media partners to refrain from reprinting such slander and not to become involved in the reprehensible process of creating hybrid threats around the Republic of Armenia.
At the same time, we believe that the competent bodies will also study this statement and consider the possibility of giving it a legal assessment.”
