Also, the MFA recalled that, based on the results of the previous meeting, the participants of the regional consultative 3+3 platform have agreed to determine the date and place of the next meeting through diplomatic channels, and proceeding from the understanding that the next two meetings should be held in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, and the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
“Constructive discussions continue in this direction,” the ministry added.
Earlier, Russian MFA spokesperson Maria Zakharova had stated that regarding the organizing of the next meeting, Moscow expects an operational agreement between Yerevan and Baku.
The six-party (Russia, Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia) consultation format on cooperation matters in the South Caucasus and the Middle East—the 3+3—was proposed in late 2020 by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Three meetings of this format have already taken place, though Georgia has not participated. The most recent meeting of the 3+3 platform, with the participation of Armenia’s foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan, took place in Istanbul in October 2024.
