Armenia to host “European Archaeology Days” event
Armenia will host the “European Archaeology Days” event from June 12 to 14, bringing a series of activities to archaeological sites, reserve-museums, museums and cultural venues across the country. The three-day initiative will take place at various locations throughout Armenia and will feature a broad range of educational and interactive programs designed for visitors of all ages and those interested in archaeology.
A number of organizations engaged in archaeological research and preservation in Armenia have joined the initiative, including the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, the Scientific Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage, the History Museum of Armenia, the Lori-Pambak, Dilijan and Yeghegnadzor regional museums, as well as the Yerevan History Museum.
The event offers the public an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the field of archaeology through visits to excavation sites and archaeological research centers. Visitors will also have the chance to meet archaeologists and restoration specialists working with archaeological finds.
The program includes a variety of educational and awareness-raising activities, such as excavation experiences, exhibitions, workshops, guided walks and other interactive events.
Armenia is participating in the “European Archaeology Days” initiative for the fourth consecutive year.
Since 2010, the coordination and promotion of “European Archaeology Days” has been entrusted by the French Ministry of Culture to the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap).
