Sardarapat promoted to the Armenian Premier League for the first time in club history
FC Sardarapat from Armavir have achieved a historic success by earning promotion to the Armenian Premier League for the first time in the club’s history. In the penultimate round of the First League, the team defeated its closest rival Syunik 2-1 and increased its lead to nine points. Since BKMA-2 is not taken into account in the promotion race, Sardarapat have effectively secured a place in the top division for next season.
The key figures of the match were the attacking leaders of the Armavir-based club. The goals were scored by the team’s two top scorers - Hamlet Minasyan and Levon Vardanyan. Both players were previously prominent members of Armenia’s youth national team. Minasyan is having a particularly impressive season and has already scored 28 goals. Vardanyan has 18 goals to his name. Their productivity has been one of the main factors behind Sardarapat’s historic promotion to the Premier League.
Earlier, the club received a license to participate in the Armenian Premier League and now plans to play in the top division of Armenian football for the first time in the 2026/27 season.
This achievement is especially notable given the club’s history. Sardarapat was founded in 2021 by Armenians from France and, until this season, had competed only at youth level. The 2025/26 season became the team’s first at the professional level and it immediately ended with promotion to the Premier League.
As a result, Armavir may have a representative in the elite of Armenian football next season, while Sardarapat is set to open a new chapter in the club’s history.
