PM Nikol Pashinyan mourns death of People’s Artist Nikolay Tsaturyan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed condolences following the death of Nikolay Tsaturyan, describing his passing as a profound loss for Armenia’s cultural life.
In a condolence message issued on Friday, Pashinyan said he had learned “with deep sorrow” about the death of the renowned artist, emphasizing that Tsaturyan’s creative journey represented one of the finest examples of dedication to both life and art.
The Prime Minister praised Tsaturyan’s decades-long service to Armenian theatre, highlighting his exceptional contribution to the country’s cultural sphere and his role in educating and shaping new generations of theatre professionals.
Pashinyan noted that Tsaturyan was not only a master stage director but also a devoted educator who shared his rich experience and knowledge with younger generations. He said the late artist helped cultivate a distinct artistic sensibility in theatre and cinema.
Among Tsaturyan’s notable productions, the Prime Minister singled out Apricot Tree, The Hours of Your Life, and And Three Chairs Fell from the Sky, saying these works had enriched Armenian theatrical culture.
The Prime Minister also underlined Tsaturyan’s role as a public intellectual, recalling his outspoken and sincere remarks on issues affecting society.
On behalf of the Armenian government and personally, Pashinyan extended condolences to Tsaturyan’s family, relatives, colleagues and admirers of Armenian theatre.
