Armenian Parliament Speaker, Latvian
Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan met with Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs on May 7, discussing bilateral relations, Armenia-European Union cooperation, and democratic reforms underway in Armenia. During the meeting, Simonyan thanked the Latvian president for visiting Armenia during what he described as a historic period for the country and for supporting Armenia’s democratic processes.
President Rinkēvičs, in turn, expressed gratitude for the warm reception, noting that he was pleased to be in Armenia, a country that has chosen the path of reforms and democratic development.
The discussions focused on issues related to Armenia-Latvia bilateral ties, the Armenia-EU agenda, and ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia. The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments and other issues of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, President Rinkēvičs, accompanied by Speaker Simonyan, observed the proceedings of the National Assembly’s regular session.
