Discussions at EPC Summit highlighted importance of regional cooperation: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of the European Council António Costa and Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland Micheál Martin made concluding statements to the media following the results of the 8th Summit of the European Political Community.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted in his speech:

“Dear Mr. President,
Dear colleagues,
Dear friends,
Dear representatives of the media,

I have the honor to note that the 8th Summit of the European Political Community has successfully concluded its work today in Yerevan, bringing together leaders from different parts of the world.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the European Union for its close cooperation and partnership, including the co-organization of the work of the Summit, and in particular to the two partners who have expanded the geography of this forum. I should also highlight the remote participation of the President of Azerbaijan and the participation of the Vice President of Türkiye.

Today's discussions have confirmed that, in the face of growing challenges in the world, there is a need for sincere dialogue and practical solutions to enhance peace and stability in different regions. We have placed emphasis on security, stability, connectivity, regional cooperation, economic resilience, energy, and the green transition.

There is no doubt that connectivity is central to economic stability, resilience, long-term sustainability, strengthening connectivity, moving forward on climate and energy agendas. We have highlighted these as shared priorities. The discussions have highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and the importance of open, integrated and interconnected regions that will contribute to the formation of intercontinental connections.

In this context, we have also addressed the expansion of peace and stability. Lasting peace, normalization of relations and opening of borders in the South Caucasus will not only benefit the region, but also strengthen ties and cooperation in the wider European space and beyond.

Of course, we have also discussed today how democracies should combat hybrid or mixed threats.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Armenia continues to proactively promote the creation of platforms for enhanced connectivity in the wider region. This summit reaffirms that the EPC is not only a platform for dialogue, but also a platform for building trust and implementing a more coordinated and forward-looking European agenda.

I am confident that the discussions in Yerevan will expand beyond this summit, while also strengthening our cooperation and mutual understanding.

I would like to take this opportunity to address my good friend, the Prime Minister of Ireland, to note that this summit will continue in his country, once again expanding this opportunity.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the local and international media, who made a significant contribution to covering this extremely important event.

Finally, let me thank President Costa, for participating in the organizing work and for nominating the candidacy of the Republic of Armenia and holding this historic summit in Yerevan. We hope you will agree with me.

Thank you very much.”

Within the framework of the event, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of the European Council António Costa and Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland Micheál Martin cancelled a stamp dedicated to the theme “8th Summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan”.
