Prime Ministers of Armenia and Belgium participate in the opening of Belgian Embassy in Armenia

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium Bart De Wever participated in the opening ceremony of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Armenia, Yerevan.

The leaders of the two countries delivered welcoming speeches during the ceremony.

Prime Minister Pashinyan noted in his speech that it is a pleasure to be present at the opening of the Belgian Embassy in our country. “This is a manifestation of the developing relations between Belgium and Armenia. We have long-standing historical ties, and our relations are based on these traditions. It is now developing as a contemporary partnership for strengthening and developing democracy, the rule of law, and democratic institutions in Armenia,” noted Nikol Pashinyan, emphasizing that democracy will bring prosperity and success to the people, the citizens of the country, and the country in general. Nikol Pashinyan thanked Belgium for its support in achieving all the above-mentioned goals.

The Prime Minister also highly appreciated Belgium’s support in Armenia’s cooperation with the European Union: “We perceive this as a very bold support for Armenian statehood, sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, democracy and the aspiration to be a more prosperous, more successful, more democratic and more future-oriented country.”

Nikol Pashinyan was pleased to note the opening of the Belgian Embassy in Armenia and noted that it will be an impetus for the development and deepening of bilateral relations. The Prime Minister once again congratulated everyone on this significant and important event.

In his speech, Bart De Wever emphasized that there is a large Armenian community in Belgium, which continues to serve as a living bridge between the two countries. Highlighting the opening of the embassy, the Belgian Prime Minister noted: “This is truly a historic moment. It is with great pride that we open our embassy here, in one of the cradles of civilization. This embassy is more than just a symbol of the long-standing bond between Belgium and Armenia. It is a solemn expression of our commitment to our future: a commitment to deepen our cooperation in the areas of business, innovation, technology, infrastructure and scientific exchange. Armenia plays an important role as a partner for stability and is a beacon of democratic values in the wider region. In a world full of uncertainty, such friendships, partnerships are important. Belgium stands firmly by Armenia’s side and will continue to do so. Let me say clearly and with conviction that we will continue to strengthen the friendship between our nations.”
