Armenian students win gold, silver and bronze medals at 17th IATI International Informatics Olympiad
Armenian school students have won gold, silver and bronze medals at the 17th IATI International Informatics Olympiad, held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria.
The event was held in an online format for two age groups: senior (grades 10–12) and junior (grades 7–9). A total of 20 students from six educational institutions in Armenia participated: the A. Shahinyan Physics and Mathematics School, “Quantum” College, Ayb School, Gyumri Photon College, Gyumri Basic Schools No. 7 and No. 41. Of the participants, 11 competed in the senior group and 9 in the junior group.
In the senior category, the Armenian team won 1 silver medal (Alex Grigoryan, “Quantum” College, grade 12) and 5 bronze medals (Tigran Matsakyan, Vahagn Gyozalyan – A. Shahinyan Physics and Mathematics School, grade 11; Aren Grigoryan, Hayk Manukyan – “Quantum” College, grade 10; Mamikon Hambaryan – Gyumri Basic School No. 41, grade 9). The latter had expressed a desire to compete in the senior group.
In the junior category, the team won 1 gold medal (Vache Kocharyan – “Quantum” College, grade 8) and 2 bronze medals (Herbert Khondkaryan – A. Shahinyan Physics and Mathematics School, grade 9; Hayk Adamyan – “Quantum” College, grade 7).
The Armenian teams were led by Armen Andreasyan (YSU lecturer), Samvel Andreasyan and Robert Kocharyan (YSU master’s students). The students’ online participation was supported by the Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics of Yerevan State University.
A total of 440 students from 16 countries participated in the Olympiad (285 in the senior group and 155 in the junior group).
