Steps toward achieving peace have already been taken, and this was confirmed at Washington summit: Hajiyev
During the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, speeches were delivered by Azerbaijani Presidential Advisor Hikmet Hajiyev, Head of the Georgian Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, and Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan.
Azerbaijani Presidential Advisor Hikmet Hajiyev addressed the topic of the peace agenda in the South Caucasus. “We have already taken certain steps to achieve peace, and this was confirmed at the Washington summit. Türkiye has also launched a process to improve relations between the two countries. However, these initiatives should not remain only on paper. Practical steps must be taken and real actions implemented. Only in this way will it be possible to build trust between the two countries,” he said.
The politician noted that Azerbaijani goods are already being exported to Armenia, while Armenian goods have also begun entering Azerbaijan. Hajiyev also considered contacts between civil societies important for establishing peace, noting that such interaction is already taking place between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “This is an important step from the perspective of building mutual trust. In general, reliable and sustainable relations must be established between our countries,” Hajiyev said. Speaking about transport communications, he noted that in the world of tomorrow, the TRIPP project will play an important transit role, turning the South Caucasus, including Armenia, into a key transit route.
Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Georgian Government Administration, also spoke about the issue of peace. He said that Tbilisi is pleased to see that peace has been established between Yerevan and Baku, and that the sides have even begun trading with each other. According to the Georgian official, his country will continue to support this process.
Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan also highly assessed the dynamics of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and pointed to the positive changes recorded over the past two years. He also expressed the opinion that, amid the current global uncertainty, the South Caucasus has become one of the safest and most secure regions, with stable transport connectivity. According to him, thanks to TRIPP, Armenia will become an important transit country not only for goods but also for energy from Asia to Europe and the United States.
