Armenia joins BES Solution Fund as 13th beneficiary country
Armenia has officially joined the BES Solution Fund, becoming the 13th country to receive support under the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network, the Ministry of Environment has announced. According to the ministry, the partnership will enable Armenia to more effectively integrate biodiversity-related knowledge into national policies and practical actions, particularly at a time when environmental challenges and opportunities are rapidly evolving.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the incorporation of biodiversity and ecosystem services approaches into national policymaking and development planning processes. This includes the systematic use of assessments by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), alongside local and traditional knowledge.
The collaboration is also expected to enhance cooperation between policymakers, scientists, and local communities. Such coordination is seen as essential for advancing ecosystem restoration, promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, and developing practical solutions to improve climate resilience.
The Ministry of Environment emphasized that participation in the BES Solution Fund marks an important step toward aligning Armenia’s environmental policies with global best practices while reinforcing science-based decision-making.
