We received assurances from US at highest level that TRIPP project, as it has been, continues to be priority to US: Pashinyan
Despite our concerns and fears, we have received assurances from the United States at the highest level that the TRIPP project, as it has been, continues to be a priority to the United States. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted this during Wednesday’s question-and-answer session with the government at the National Assembly of Armenia.
“The processes related to TRIPP have not only not slowed down, but have also accelerated, and both sides both the Republic of Armenia and the United States are eager to implement it as soon as possible. We can say more that in the past few days we have discussed, in particular, the construction of power lines, the possibility of carrying out construction work earlier than planned, and in general anything, since the processes have matured, are maturing, and there is no doubt that both Armenia and the United States approach the [TRIPP] project as an absolute priority.
Moreover, now we can all imagine how much its economic significance has increased. And I am very happy to record this. I am also happy to record that Azerbaijan also has a similar interest in connection with the projects, because when we talk about Azerbaijan, many people say, ‘Will Azerbaijan participate in TRIPP?’ No, we clarify that TRIPP simply cannot go from one closed border to another, those borders must be opened so that there is communication on both sides. And we are happy to record that Azerbaijan also has a similar approach and interest,” Pashinyan announced.
He emphasized that Armenia’s interests in the TRIPP project are also obvious: “in practice, daily work is carried out. And in practice, if I am not lying, there is not a single working day during which I do not touch on any topic related to TRIPP, do not give any instructions, including to other members of the [Armenian] government who are involved in the process.
"Of course, there were concerns, but now it is exactly the opposite. The degree of priority to the United States government and the government of the Republic of Armenia has only increased during this time, and my prediction is that in the near future, engagement, interest, and pace of implementation will only increase," the premier of Armenia said.
