Armenia re-elected to UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and elected to UN Commission on Population and Development
At the plenary meeting of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), held on 8 April 2026, the Republic of Armenia was elected to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) for the term 2027-2029 and to the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) for the term 2026-2030, Permanent Mission of Armenia to the UN reports.
These elections reflect Armenia’s growing engagement and commitment to advancing international cooperation, strengthening justice systems, and contributing to global development priorities.
The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice serves as the principal policymaking body of the United Nations in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.
Armenia was also elected as a member of the CCPCJ for the 2024–2026 term and currently serves in this body. Having been re-elected for the new 2027–2029 term, Armenia will continue to make an active contribution to the work of the Commission through constructive engagement and cooperation with international partners, promoting dialogue and the exchange of experience in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.
The Commission on Population and Development is an important forum for addressing issues related to population dynamics, demographic trends, and sustainable development.
Armenia will make active efforts within the framework of the CPD, supporting inclusive discussions and contributing to collective endeavours addressing key population and development issues at the global level.
