Dilijan nominated for World Travel Awards 2026 as Europe’s Leading Emerging Destination
Dilijan has been nominated for the World Travel Awards 2026 in the category of Europe’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination, highlighting the Armenian town’s rapid rise as one of the continent’s most promising travel spots.
Often referred to as the “Oscars of the travel industry,” the World Travel Awards recognize destinations that set benchmarks in quality, authenticity, and visitor experience.
Nestled in northern Armenia, Dilijan is widely known for its national park, scenic hiking trails, historic monasteries, and rich cultural experiences. Over the past three years, the destination has recorded significant growth, with visitor numbers increasing by 30 percent and accommodation capacity rising by 35 percent. The figures reflect growing international interest in nature-based, wellness, and slow travel experiences.
Dilijan’s development model emphasizes sustainability and community engagement. Tourism revenues are reinvested into environmental conservation, cultural initiatives, and local projects, ensuring that growth benefits both residents and the surrounding ecosystem.
The nomination also highlights Armenia’s broader appeal as a travel destination, showcasing its rich cultural heritage, unique identity, and diverse offerings—from historical landmarks and traditions to emerging destinations like Dilijan.
Voting for Dilijan in the World Travel Awards 2026 is now open to the public.
