The Preventive Measure Applied to Catholicos Garegin II’s Brother and Nephew Has Been Changed
The Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Armavir Region of the Republic of Armenia has replaced the detention applied to Gevorg Nersisyan, brother of the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II and his nephew, Hambardzum Nersisyan, with alternative preventive measures.
“A combined preventive measure has been applied: a prohibition on leaving the country, three months of house arrest, and bail in the amount of 1 million drams,” Liana Rafayelyan, spokesperson for the Criminal Courts, told 1lurer.am.
The brother of the Catholicos of All Armenians, Gevorg Nersisyan, and his son, Hambardzum Nersisyan, were detained on November 2. They are accused of hooliganism and obstructing propaganda activities. The brother and nephew of the Catholicos were remanded in custody on November 3. On November 29, their detention was extended for an additional three months.
