On February 16, a reception was held at the Royal Air Force Club in London, dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Armenian Army and the official opening of the Defense Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the United Kingdom.
In his remarks, Ambassador Varuzhan Nersesyan noted that this was the first time a reception dedicated to Armenian Army Day had been organized in the United Kingdom. He emphasized the progress achieved in Armenian-British relations, recalling the agreement to elevate bilateral ties to the level of a strategic partnership and the reciprocal opening of defense sections in the two embassies as clear evidence of deepening cooperation.
During the event, the official appointment of Defense Attaché Colonel Karen Muradyan also took place. The Ambassador congratulated Colonel Muradyan on his appointment and wished him success in his new role.
In his address, Colonel Muradyan spoke about the ongoing reform process within the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to the continuous modernization and diversification of armaments, as well as to expanding cooperation with the United Kingdom and other international partners.
He stressed that the Armenian Army remains the primary guarantor of the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and peace.
Representatives of the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence and members of the Armenian community attended the reception.
