Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe
On January 27, in Strasbourg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, had a meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset. During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues on the agenda of cooperation within the framework of the Council of Europe.
Both sides emphasized that Armenia’s dynamic engagement in the Council of Europe, its consistent accession to Council of Europe conventions, and their implementation testify to the Republic of Armenia’s commitment to democratic values and reforms.
Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted that Armenia highly values cooperation with relevant international institutions on the path of democratic development, including with the Council of Europe and the European Union. In this context, the development and effective implementation of toolbox to counter hybrid threats, including disinformation, were touched upon.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Alain Berset exchanged views on developments in the South Caucasus. Minister Mirzoyan presented Armenia’s approaches to the further institutionalization of the established peace.
Upcoming events, in particular the participation of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, which will take place in Yerevan in May, were touched upon.
