We discussed the obstacles that do not align with the positive trends toward peace: Mirzoyan on discussing the issue of Armenians held in Baku with Rubio
We have discussed both the prospects for bilateral cooperation and the cooperation
opportunities stemming from TRIPP, and we have discussed the possible obstacles which,
at this moment, do not fully align with the positive trends emerging toward peace. Of
course, the issue of individuals held in Azerbaijan is one of those matters.
Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this in Washington in connection with the TRIPP
document, responding to a question as to whether he had discussed with U.S. Secretary
of State Marco Rubio the issue of Armenian detainees held in Azerbaijan.
When asked whether possible steps of mediation and support by the United States had
been discussed, Mirzoyan replied that yes, the issue of persons held in Azerbaijan was
discussed during his meeting with the Secretary of State.
