The first group of conscripts from the Berd community joining the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia has departed for service
On January 12, the 2026 winter conscription campaign began in the Berd community. The first group of conscripts from the Berd community who will join the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia departed for mandatory fixed-term military service, the Berd municipality reported.
The spiritual pastor of Berd city and the surrounding villages, Father Aram Mirzoyan, offered the Lord’s Prayer and then conveyed his blessing and best wishes to the conscripts.
Community head Astghik Hakobyan wished the conscripts a peaceful, trouble-free service and a safe return: “Dear parents, on behalf of the community I thank you for raising patriotic sons. Dear conscripts, today it is your turn to take on the sacred duty of defending the homeland. I am confident you will carry it out with dignity, because the blood of the brave Tavush people flows through your veins. Dear boys, I ask you to be vigilant, attentive, responsible and caring toward one another and toward the homeland. May God’s blessing and all our prayers be with you. May you carry out your service in peace, return to your homes and build up and bring prosperity and flourishing to your households. Long live you and long live the Armenian Army!”
Berd Territorial Military Commissar of the Tavush Region Military Commissariat of the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Defense Andranik Babayan, Senior Specialist of the Berd Territorial Military Commissariat Vahagn Melikyan also made speeches.
