Azerbaijan was also preparing to take former defense minister Kamo Vardanyan hostage: Shahramanyan
Azerbaijan demanded the arrest of Kamo Vardanyan (former Defense Minister of Artsakh - ed.) as well, in exchange for organizing the safe evacuation of the population from Artsakh. This was announced by Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan in a conversation with journalists on December 18.
He explained that Baku had also included him in the list of people it intended to take hostage.
“Yes, those people were aware that Azerbaijan had made such a decision and they stayed and ensured the process of the population’s safe evacuation,” Shahramanyan added.
It should be noted that Kamo Vardanyan was appointed an adviser to Armenia’s Minister of Defense in August 2024.
