We are ready to consult on the parameters of the “Trump Road”; Russian Foreign Ministry representative
The Russian side is ready to consult with Yerevan on the parameters of the “Trump Road” initiative and on Russia’s possible participation, Mikhail Kalugin, Director of the Fourth Department for CIS Countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told RIA Novosti.
“The details of the Armenian-American project still need to be examined. We are ready to consult with our Armenian partners to discuss both the parameters of the initiative and Russia’s possible participation,” he said.
Kalugin added that there are sufficient grounds for this. According to him, the Russian side is considering a segment of the route that was agreed within the framework of a trilateral working group.
“Our company, South Caucasus Railway, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, holds the concession to manage Armenia’s railway network. The region uses Russian railway lines,” Kalugin noted.
He also stated that the “road” will largely run through an area under the responsibility of Russian border guards.
“It is also necessary to take into account Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). It is obvious that our partners cannot do without Russia,” he concluded.
