Nikol Pashinyan welcomed Ilham Aliyev’s decision and called it one of the achievements in establishing peace and stability in the South Caucasus. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his decision to unblock transit traffic through Azerbaijani territory to Armenia.
At the meeting of the EAEU Intergovernmental Council held on Thursday, he noted positive changes in the region that open up new opportunities to deepen economic cooperation.
He said that unblocking communications in the South Caucasus could play a significant role in expanding regional connectivity and strengthening the economic stability of countries in a wider region.
“In this regard, I would like to welcome the decision of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to unblock the transit of cargo destined for Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan. This is one of the essential achievements in establishing peace and stability in our region.” - Nikol Pashinyan
In October, Ilham Aliyev announced the removal of all restrictions on cargo transportation to Armenia. He called this step proof that peace between Baku and Yerevan exists “no longer only on paper, but also in practice.”
