Azerbaijan Wants to See the EU as Part of the “Zangezur Corridor”: Hajiyev
Azerbaijan wants to see the European Union as part of the “Zangezur Corridor.” This was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.
Calling the “Zangezur Corridor” part of the “Middle Corridor” between China, Central Asia, and Europe, Hajiyev noted that this route will have a transformative impact on the Eurasian transport landscape and that Azerbaijan considers itself a key player in this process.
According to Azerbaijani officials, once the corridor becomes operational in Azerbaijan, its annual capacity will reach up to 15 million tons of cargo and work on the Azerbaijani section is planned to be completed by 2026.
Hajiyev said that Baku would like to see the European Union as part of this new transport infrastructure, including within the framework of the EU’s “Global Gateway” initiative.
