Information on fires in Tavush Province
As of 10:30 a.m. on November 26, the fire that broke out in the “Kazachi” section of Dilijan in Tavush Province has been isolated. Work continues in other areas near the settlement of Navur, in the forest adjacent to the Dilijan bends, and in the vicinity of the “Lerrnayin Armenia” (Mountain Armenia) Hotel in Dilijan.
The information circulating in the press that the fire has spread to the “Lerrnayin Hayastan” (Mountain Armenia) sanatorium does not correspond to reality.
We urge you to follow only official updates.
The fire has mainly spread in grass-covered areas. A large number of trees have not burned; heatstroke was recorded.
The spread of the fire toward houses and the sanatorium has been prevented.
In total, 669 rescue workers, 215 ecopatrols and local residents are involved in the firefighting operations. To support the firefighting and aerial reconnaissance of the area, 22 flights have been carried out during the day by a Ministry of Defense helicopter.
The work is continuing intensively.
Some media are spreading information about the recruitment of volunteers for firefighting efforts. The situation is fully under the control of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs Rescue Service, and in case the assistance of volunteer groups is needed, an appropriate announcement will be made.
We urge you to strictly observe fire safety rules. If you notice fire or smoke, please call 911 immediately.
Additional information will be provided.
