Pollution of the water source in Kechut has no connection with Amulsar: Lydian Armenia
The ongoing construction works at Amulsar has no connection with the pollution of the water source recorded in Kechut last week. Lydian Armenia has issued a statement, reminding that this circumstance has also been confirmed by the RA Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body.
The company also recalls that on November 10 a video was circulated on the internet claiming that the pollution of the water source in Kechut was caused by the construction works being carried out at Amulsar, although that source is located outside the Amulsar mining area.
On the same day, members of Lydian Armenia’s environmental team and the Jermuk Municipality visited the mentioned area. As a result of an on-site inspection, it was initially confirmed that there is no connection between the incident and Amulsar.
“Considering that the RA Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body initiated a parallel proceeding, during this period the Company refrained from making comments, awaiting the inspection body’s final conclusion regarding the actual causes of the pollution.
We also consider it necessary to note that the company under the name ‘Stroymontage’ is not involved in the construction works at Amulsar,” stated in a statement released by Lydian Armenia.
